Jeanine Cowen
began writing music for film as a favor to a college friend who
needed music for her directoral debut short film. Previously,
her compositions were mainly classical in nature, chamber, brass
ensembles, and symphonic movements. The opportunity to combine
the nuance and power of music with film led her to change from
a classical performance degree to film composition.
As her business and reputation has grown, she has worked with directors and production companies all over the US. Having resided in Boston, Massachusetts for nearly 20 years she has gained access to world-class musicians from the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and local residents Duke Levine, and Victor Mendoza. She's worked on studio, television and indie projects that have gone on to receive critical acclaim.
Ms. Cowen has also been involved with sound for games since the early 90's having held positions on development teams at The Education Development Center, Inc., Turning Point Software and Turbine Entertainment, as well as several consulting positions. She has been engaged at all levels of sound development on wide ranging projects which include Hasbro's Mr. Potato Head, Microsoft's Fine Artist & Creative Writer, and the MMORPG Lord of the Rings Online, Shadows of Angmar.
Having experience in audio engineering and production allows
her to contribute through the entire post production and development processes,
working closely with sound designers, re-recording mixers, game designers and development personnel.
With years of training in classical music, and extensive writing
experience in jazz and contemporary music, Jeanine is able to
create a unique score for each project. Whether conducting an
orchestra, or working in the studio with a singer, Jeanine is
dedicated to finding the perfect fit for every project.
